About

From molecular mechanisms to observable behavior.

How do molecular and interfacial interactions give rise to the collective organization, dynamics and observable response of complex fluids and soft materials?

Questions that connect disciplines.

We work at the intersection of physical chemistry, soft matter, and colloid and interface science. Our guiding interest is how molecular interactions and interfacial organization influence phase behavior, structural evolution, transport and material response.

Our research spans phase behavior and separation, transport in chemically heterogeneous and fractured or porous environments, and functional soft materials. These directions benefit from shared concepts and methods, but we do not assume that all systems operate through the same physical mechanism.
